Porcelain dolls

Porcelain dolls are created from the ceramic material porcelain. To create this substance, raw materials are heated to temperatures between 2,192°F and 2,552°F. Generally, kaolin is used as a part of these resources. It is a form of clay.

Items described as porcelain dolls may not necessarily be created from this material in actuality. When it come to the trade, porcelain has been defined as being "completely vitrified, hard, impermeable (even before glazing), white or artificially colored, translucent (except when of considerable thickness) and resonant." In more common use, it may be applied to different substances which only have certain surface qualities.

Porcelain dolls have a recorded history dating back to 1770. It was during this year when the first doll heads of this type were constructed. They had molded hair and eyes. Cornwall, England was the location for their first appearance.
